NYS Public Transit Industry Convenes on Managing Economic Instability

ALBANY, NY (06/02/2010)(readMedia)-- The economic crisis in New York State continues to create unprecedented challenges for the public transit industry in New York State. Increasingly, transit agencies and operators are cutting service and attempting to accomplish more with less. On June 2-4, 2010, representatives from the state's transit agencies and business partners will come together in Tarrytown, NY for the NYS Public Transit Industry Spring Conference. MTA Chairman and CEO Jay Walder will address conference attendees during the opening session which begins at 9:30 AM on June 3 (with Chairman Walder's remarks beginning around 9:45/10:00 AM) and nationally renowned economist Hugh Johnson will provide an economic outlook for 2010 and 2011 during the Association luncheon that same day (Mr. Johnson's remarks are expected to begin at approximately 1:00 PM). The program also provides timely educational sessions, opportunities for networking and information sharing, and the latest on products and services from transit's business community.
