ALBANY, NY (10/18/2011)(readMedia)-- New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Joan McDonald and Marist College Dennis Murray will preside over a dedication of the new Route 9 pedestrian underpass at Marist College. Constructed ahead of schedule, the underpass provides a safe crossing for pedestrians while promoting a smoother flow of vehicular traffic.

WHERE: Under the northbound side of State Route 9 at Marist College
WHO: Commissioner McDonald, President Murray, State Senator Steve Saland, Assemblyman Joel Miller, Dutchess County Executive William Steinhaus, Construction Industry Council of Westchester and Hudson Valley President Ross Pepe, regional public officials and community representatives will be attending.
DIRECTIONS:
From Albany and points north: Take the New York State Thruway South to Exit 18 (New Paltz). Take Route 299 East to Route 9W South; continue on 9W to Route 44-55 (Mid-Hudson Bridge) Poughkeepsie. Make the first right off the bridge and immediately follow signs for Route 9 North, Hyde Park. Site is located approximately 1-1.5 miles north on Route 9. Going north on Route 9, take a right on Fulton Street, then another right onto Beck Place for parking and access to the underpass.
From New York City: Take the Hutchinson River Parkway to 684 North to I-84. Take I-84 West to exit 13 (Route 9). Marist College is located approximately 15 miles north on Route 9. Going north on Route 9, take a right on Fulton Street, then another right onto Beck Place for parking and access to the underpass.
