Name Reversal Used As Evidence In Workers' Comp Fraud Case

NEW YORK, NY (05/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Ondrej Marga faces a potential prison sentence after claiming he was Marga Ondrej.

The operator of a Putnam County construction company, Ondrej Marga was arrested for fraudulently attempting to obtain workers' compensation coverage.

New York State Insurance Department Frauds Bureau investigators accuse Marga of reversing his first name and surname on an application for coverage so he could mask his identity to conceal the fact that an earlier policy had been cancelled.

Marga, 43, of Mahopac, is also accused of falsely claiming he never had any previous coverage when he applied for a new insurance policy with the New York State Insurance Fund for Mika Construction.

Investigators found that Marga concealed that he was a partner and vice president of O. Marga Construction when that company's workers' compensation coverage was cancelled in 2009 for not paying $41,000 in premiums.

State police arrested Marga on April 29. He could be sentenced to up to four years in prison if he is convicted. A hearing is being scheduled to be held in Town of Carmel Town Court in Mahopac. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Christopher York.
