WALLA WALLA, WA (03/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Spencer May of Napa recently presented his research at a press conference at Whitman College on Thursday, Feb. 16.
May was one of fifteen students participating in a research course at Whitman College called "The State of the State for Washington Latinos." Students in this course conducted academic and community-based research in one of five different areas related to the relationship between Walla Walla Latinos and their surrounding community.
His project, entitled "Secure Communities Research Project with OneAmerica," looked into the effects Secure Communities had on the relationship between Latinos and local law enforcement.
May, the son of Pete and Karen May, is a 2009 graduate of Napa High School. He is currently a junior biophysics, biochemistry and molecular biology major at Whitman.
