Nationally-Recognized Poet to Read, Sign Books at SUNY Delhi

DELHI, NY (11/04/2015)(readMedia)-- Nationally-recognized poet Frank X Walker will read selections from his work Tuesday, November 17, 7 p.m. in Centennial Center, Sanford Hall on the SUNY Delhi campus. He will greet participants and sign books following the presentation.

Before the reading, Walker will spend the afternoon meeting and talking with SUNY Delhi students, faculty, and staff.

Walker is a native of Danville, Kentucky and is an Associate Professor at the University of Kentucky. A founding member of the Affrilachian Poets, he is the editor of America! What's My Name? The "Other" Poets Unfurl the Flag (Wind Publications, 2007) and Eclipsing a Nappy New Millennium and the author of four poetry collections: When Winter Come: the Ascension of York (University Press of Kentucky, 2008); Black Box (Old Cove Press, 2005); Buffalo Dance: the Journey of York (University Press of Kentucky, 2003), and Affrilachia (Old Cove Press, 2000). He is the winner of the 35th Annual Lillian Smith Book Award, the poet laureate of Kentucky 2013-2014, and in 2014, he won an NAACP Image Award for his work as an artist activist.

The event is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the Provost's Office, the Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College Association at Delhi (CADI), and Barnes & Noble.
