THE PERFORMANCE

Rockin' Road to Dublin (RRTD) revives classic Irish art forms to create a fresh show inspired by the spectacles that came before it. According to the show's press materials, RRTD brings "a wee bit of Dublin with a rockin' edge to the stage. It's truly the music that gets the audience on their feet."

Choreographer and world champion lead male dancer Scott Doherty (Riverdance, Lord of the Dance) has teamed up with veteran Celtic rocker Chris Smith (American Rogues) to produce a fusion of music, movement, and culture with a modern twist: RRTD is a breathtaking display of classic Irish tunes, jigs, and reels accented by rock riffs, contemporary costumes, and a dynamic light show. Rounding out the show's star power is its director, noted Broadway choreographer Jeff Whiting (The Producers, national tour; Bullets Over Broadway, national tour).

While staying true to technique, RRTD's new generation of performers execute rapid-fire leaps, twirls, and footwork. Led by Doherty and three-time Irish dance champion Ashley Smith (So You Think You Can Dance), the cast also includes eight Irish step dancers from Celtic Fyre, Lord of the Dance, Cherish the Ladies, and various theatrical productions

Lead vocalists Megan Browning (Harley Boone) and Brett Benowitz (Born Blue)-backed by Smith and a seven-piece live band that includes award-winning musicians from around the world-sing the love story that weaves the show's music and dance together.

And for fans of authentic Irish music, the show also includes a number of familiar Irish tunes-including "Fields of Athenrye" and "A Nation Once Again"-rearranged in a rock music style.
