Nazareth College to Host Academic Lecture on ISIS, Oct. 10

ROCHESTER, NY (09/30/2016)(readMedia)-- Is ISIS a Threat to International Peace and Security? It is the topic of a lecture on Monday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Forum in the Shults Center. The lecture will be lead by Political Science Professor Sharon Murphy as she discusses the origins, ideology, and tactics of the so-called Islamic State, in Iraq, Syria, (ISIS) and across the globe. Murphy will distinguish ISIS from Al Qaeda, and outline other terrorist groups associated, as well as answer how serious of a threat the group poses.

Director of the Peace and Justice Studies Program Harry Murray will respond to her presentation by offering his own insights. Questions from the audience will help to round out the conversation on one of the most troubling international problems of recent times.
