A new Web site, www.RespectNYseniors.org, makes it easy for New Yorkers to tell state lawmakers what they think about the impact of the proposed budget cuts and the Deficit Reduction Proposal on seniors and others in need of continuing care services.
Sponsored by the nonprofit New York Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (NYAHSA), www.RespectNYseniors.org lets you click a button that takes you directly to a page with pre-written letters urging state lawmakers to protect New York's elderly against the proposed budget cuts. By entering your address or ZIP code, your letter can be sent directly to your district's lawmakers. The letters can be sent as written or easily modified to include a personalized message, and the service is free.
The site includes a letter rejecting the governor's Deficit Reduction Plan, which poses the largest cuts to long term care, as well as a letter opposing the budget cuts.
