New York Air National Guardsmen Demonstrate Skills on Veterans Day
Rescue Wing Guardian Angels Show Their Stuff at USS Intrepid
NEW YORK, NY (11/13/2009)(readMedia)-- Members of the New York Air Natonal Guard's Long Island-based 106th Rescue Wing staged a sea rescue demonstration at the USS Intrepid Sea,Air & Space Museum Wednesday, Nov. 11 as part of New York City's massive Veterans Day Celebration.
Two HH-60 Pavehawk rescue helicopters from the 101st Rescue Squadron and Guardian Angels from the 103rd Rescue Squadron, the Airmen trained to jump into dangerous situations on land or sea and retrive survivors, showed their stuff to a standing room only crowd at the Intrepid at noon. Following the demonstration the two helicopters flew over the route of the Veterans Day Parade making its way up 5th Avenue before returning to land on the Intrepid and great visitors for the remainder of the day.

Children of all ages got the chance to get up close and personal with the HH-60 aircraft after the Veteran's Day demonstration.
