AMSTERDAM, NEW YORK (06/09/2026) (readMedia)-- The New York National Guard's 2nd Civil Support Team will conduct a training exercise at Amsterdam's Shuttleworth Park on Thursday, June 9 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The 2nd Civil Support Team consists of 21 New York National Guardsmen who are trained to identify suspected chemical, biological, or radiological weapons or materials in support of local emergency responded.
The personnel being training will be wearing specialized protective gear during the exercise.
Approximately 30 people will be on site during the exercise.
The park at 65 Crescent Avenue will be fully occupied by military personnel and their vehicles during the training period.
There will be no other inconvencience to the public and traffic will not be disrupted.
The 2nd Civil Support Team is based at Stratton Air National Guard Base in Scotia and is responsible for responding to incidents across New York State and the region.
