New York State AFL-CIO Announces Endorsement of Kathy Hochul for Congress

Special Election to be held for 26th Congressional District on May 24th

Denis Hughes, President of the 2 ½ million member New York State AFL-CIO today announced the State Labor Federation's endorsement of Kathy Hochul for Congress. The special election for the open seat in the 26th Congressional District is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th.

President Hughes stated, "The New York State AFL-CIO is pleased to announce its endorsement of Kathy Hochul. Kathy has reached out to local unions in her district, and has shown a keen awareness and understanding of the issues, needs and concerns of working men and women.

"As a result of her efforts, Kathy Hochul has received substantial support within the local labor movement in the 26th congressional district. As such, the New York State AFL-CIO will work diligently for Kathy's election next month."

Upon receiving the New York State AFL-CIO's endorsement, Kathy Hochul stated, "The endorsement of the New York State AFL-CIO today demonstrates the large coalition of supporters we are gathering in this race. The New York State AFL-CIO represents 70,000 union members in the 26th Congressional District.
