New York State AFL-CIO Announces Endorsement of Peter Harckham for Assembly

Denis Hughes, President of the 2 ½ million member New York State AFL-CIO today announced the State Labor Federation's endorsement of Peter Harckham for Assembly. The special election for the open seat in the 89th Assembly District is scheduled for Tuesday, February 9th.

President Hughes stated, "The New York State AFL-CIO is pleased to announce the endorsement of Peter Harckham.

"Peter has reached out to local unions in his district and has shown a strong commitment to addressing the many needs and concerns of working men and women. In addition, Peter knows what it will take to improve our economy and will put jobs at the top of his priority list. As a result of his efforts, this organization will work diligently for his election."

Upon receiving the endorsement, Peter Harckham stated, "The New York State AFL-CIO's hardworking men and women are an important part of our communities. I'm grateful for their support. I look forward to working with them to turn things around and reform Albany."

The New York State AFL-CIO will coordinate a comprehensive get-out-the-vote effort, including mailings, phone banks and door to door visits to union members.

The New York State AFL-CIO represents approximately 8,000 union members in the 89th Assembly District.
