New York's First Ever Recovery Conference Opens September 14 in Albany
What: Recovery Conference. Sponsored by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. The theme of the conference is NYS Voices for Recovery: Real People. Real Stories.
Speakers include experts from national and state government. Workshops topics include: parenting, wellness and health, job hunting, recovery from problem gambling, veterans issues, rights of people in recovery, sustaining recovery, and post incarceration.
Who: For individuals in recovery, their loved ones, recovery advocates, prevention and treatment service providers or individuals who may work with recovery clients.
When: September 14-15, 2008.
The conference starts on Sept. 14 at 11:00 a.m. Conference participants should register online ahead of time at http://www.oasas.state.ny.us/recovery/index.cfm or register onsite before the conference starts from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Why: In recognition of National Alcohol and Substance Abuse Recovery Awareness Month, OASAS is celebrating September as Recovery Month.
