Nickell Earns SCAC All-Tournament Team Honor

GEORGETOWN, TX (11/08/2012)(readMedia)-- After advancing to the SCAC Conference Tournament Finals the Southwestern men's soccer team placed five players on the All-Tournament Team.

Evan Perkins, Timothy Eamma, Forrest Baker, Steven Resnik and Matthew Nickell were named in the report after their outstanding play over the weekend.

Southwestern defeated Centenary College 1-0 in the first round, using a goal from Evan Perkins to move into the semifinals for the second consecutive year. SU faced Colorado College in the semis and after a scoreless two overtime frames, the Pirates won in penalty kicks to advance to the finals for the first time.

The Pirates took on conference-rival Trinity in the finals and played strong soccer, but ultimately fell 2-0 after two late second half goals by the Tigers.

Trinity and Southwestern each had five players earn all?Tournament recognition, followed by Colorado College with three selections. Austin College had two players recognized on the all?tournament team, and Centenary College and the University of Dallas had one selection each.

Southwestern ended the season at 13-8-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the SCAC.
