Nighttime Lane Closures to Impact Traffic on Northeastern Extension Starting Sunday

Contractor will restrict traffic to one lane between Mid-County and Lansdale

KING OF PRUSSIA, PA (06/03/2011)(readMedia)-- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists traveling on the Northeastern Extension (I-476) between the Mid-County (Exit #20) and Lansdale (Exit #31) Interchange to stay alert for single-lane closures to begin June 5 at 7 p.m. The work will be conducted northbound and southbound overnight, Sunday through Thursday from 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. the following morning for two weeks starting June 5.

During the nighttime closures, crews will obtain pavement core samples utilizing bi-directional, right lane closures on I-476 between milepost A26-A30. The work is needed as part of the Turnpike's future plans to reconstruct and widen the six-mile northern section of I-476 between Berks Road (milepost A26) and the Lansdale Interchange. All work is weather permitting and the schedule is subject to change.

The Turnpike urges motorists to stay alert and travel at posted speed limits through work zones. Speed limits will be enforced and fines increased. Motorists are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly. For emergencies, dial *11 on your mobile phone.
