No Appointment Necessary- Community Care Physicians, PC Opens New Urgent Care Center in Delmar

New Open Access Office Offers Immediate Treatment and Reduces Pressure on Emergency Departments

DELMAR, NY (09/24/2008)(readMedia)-- Community Care Physicians, PC announces the expansion of its urgent care services with the opening of a new open access office in Delmar, NY. Scheduled for opening October 6, 2008, the Urgent Care Center will be located at 250 Delaware Avenue, Delmar. Hours of operation for the facility will be Monday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays. The Urgent Care Center will provide same-day care close to home to meet the growing health care needs of the local community.

Urgent Care focuses on acute, episodic care on a "walk-in" basis. By taking relevant history and completing physical exams, non life-threatening conditions are conveniently diagnosed and treated. These conditions include cough, cold, infection, gastrointestinal complaints, rash, minor fracture, headache, minor injury and other similar conditions. Urgent care does not replace regular physician visits. Once initial treatment is completed the patient is then referred to a primary care provider or sub-specialist for further care, if necessary.

"Demand for more convenient access to health providers from patients with episodic medical problems is growing. Patients want care promptly and easily," said Ronald V. Musto, Executive Vice President of Community Care Physicians. "Community Care is responding by providing better access in our primary care practices, and additional access at our urgent visit centers. Providers are available seven days a week, on holidays, daytime and evening time."

Community Care's expanded health services include lab, pharmacy and diagnostic services on site to provide quality, complete health care.

Offering immediate treatment for episodic health problems improves access to care, reduces the pressure on already crowded hospital emergency rooms, provides faster and easier access for patients, and is a less expensive alternative for the treatment of less serious conditions.

Strategically located in Delmar, the Urgent Care Center is located within a 5 mile radius of the 3 major hospitals in the area-St. Peter's Hospital, Albany Medical Center, and Albany Memorial Hospital-which offers a much needed alternative to the overcrowded emergency departments.

Owned and operated by Community Care Physicians, PC, the Urgent Care Center will be staffed by board certified family physicians, trained in the care of patients of all ages who can address many types of medical needs.

The Urgent Care Center in Delmar accepts most major insurance plans. You do not need to be a patient of Community Care to utilize this service. An Electronic Medical Record system will be utilized to improve documentation and improve the efficiency of care. This system further assists in the transfer of complete documentation of treatment to the patients' primary care physician for continuity of care following the visit.

"The Urgent Care Center at Delmar will be a great resource for the communities we serve", said Musto. "People are interested in quality, timely care. We can offer both at this facility."
