ARLINGTON, VA (09/10/2012)(readMedia)-- Bishop O'Connell High School senior Tamika Tran took some time out of her last high school summer break to participate in an intensive career exploration and leadership program offered through LeadAmerica.
Tran traveled to New York City, where she attend a Medicine and Healthcare Conference at Columbia University. During her time at the conference, Tran explored the state of the art facilities at the University, including the gross anatomy lab at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. She also participated in a Standardized Patient Clinical Encounter Workshop located at the Morchand Center for Clinical Competence at Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
This one-week experience exposed Tran not only to the science behind healthcare, but also to the fundamental skills of communication and critical thinking that play important roles in this field. She received college credit for her participation in this program.
