ALBANY, NY (01/11/2010)(readMedia)-- Beginning this month you can hear WAMC-FM on 97.3 FM in and around Cooperstown, NY. This addition provides increased service to an area where WAMC boasts much support both in underwriting and listener contributions. It brings the public radio network's total number of stations and translators to 21, making WAMC one of the largest member stations in the NPR family. The station brings in a much clearer WAMC signal in an area which has previously had challenges with reception or none at all.
"You asked for it, now you've got it!" said Alan Chartock, President and CEO of WAMC Northeast Public Radio. "We are very pleased to be serving this important area of our region and we look forward to more growth in the future." Chartock added that for years WAMC has had requests from Cooperstown for better service and we always said, 'We're coming! We keep our promises!'
WAMC Northeast Public Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day with information and cultural programming from stations reaching parts of seven northeastern states. WAMC is an award winning producer of regionally based programming. As stated earlier, WAMC is a member station of National Public Radio and is affiliated with Public Radio International and American Public Media. http://www.wamc.org/
