Overnight Traffic Paces Between Willow Hill (#189) and Blue Mountain (#201)

HARRISBURG, PA (07/22/2011)(readMedia)-- Drivers using the Pennsylvania Turnpike between exits Willow Hill (#189) and Blue Mountain (#201) will encounter 30-minute paces starting at 11:45 pm July 23 through 6 am July 24 eastbound and also from 11:45 pm July 29 through 6 am July 30 westbound for bridge work at Milepost 201.47.

Intermittent paces of eastbound traffic are planned July 23, 24 and westbound on July 29, 30 while crews set concrete beams for a new ramp bridge at Milepost 201.47. This work is part of the Roadway and Bridge Reconstruction project from M.P. 199.34 to M.P. 201.74 which is scheduled to be completed in June 2013.

During the 30-minute pace, state police cruisers will drive side-by-side to restrict eastbound and westbound Turnpike traffic to about 20-25 miles an hour, allowing the contractor a window to set the concrete beams without jeopardizing motorist or worker safety. Motorists in the area should be prepared for slow-moving traffic and possible intermittent stoppages. The Turnpike conducts pacing maneuvers in certain construction situations as an alternative to full roadway closures and detours. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and other circumstances.
