Pa. Turnpike Traffic to be Stopped during Demolition of the Allegheny River Bridge

NEW STANTON, PA (07/28/2010)(readMedia)-- On Fri., July 30, Pennsylvania Turnpike motorists approaching the Allegheny Valley Interchange (Exit #48) will encounter temporary traffic stoppages at milepost 46.5 eastbound and milepost 49.5 westbound just prior to a scheduled 10 a.m. blast of the old Allegheny River Bridge.

Traffic will be stopped in both directions while crews demolish the remaining steel structures of the original Allegheny River Bridge.

Once crews check the current bridge, the restriction will be lifted in this area. These closures should last no longer than 20 minutes. Also, traffic will be stopped on Freeport Road in this vicinity and Denny Estates in the vicinity of the bridge will be closed during the blast.
