SPRINGFIELD, IL (12/21/2012)(readMedia)-- Joseph Schweickert of Peoria, director of the human resource office with Joint Forces Headquarters Illinois National Guard, was promoted to the rank of colonel Dec. 20 at the Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield.

Schweickert commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Illinois Army National Guard in 1988 after completing the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at Knox College in Galesburg. Throughout his career Schweickert has held several leadership and staff position in the Illinois National Guard.

Schweickert has mobilized to support state emergencies and deployed overseas to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010 to 2011.
