POTSDAM, NY (01/27/2011)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will host the Perron Trio for an upcoming string concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8 in Sara M. Snell Music Theater. The guest artist recital will feature the well-received string trio, with Sheila Perron Jaffé on violin, Shelly Tramposh on viola and Johanne Perron on cello.

The Perron Trio will perform Ludwig van Beethoven's "String Trio in C-Minor, Op. 9, No. 3," a 1798 piece written in the key the artist is known for composing stormy and striking pieces in. They will also present the "String Trio No. 1" by Bohuslav Martin?, a prominent Bohemian Czech composer.

The recital will conclude with a performance of Hungarian composer Ernst von Dohnanyi's five-movement piece, "Serenade, Op. 10."

The Perron Trio, consisting of Montreal's mother-daughter duo Johanne Perron and Sheila Perron Jaffé alongside Crane's very own Shelly Tramposh, an assistant professor of viola, has seen great success in performances in both the U.S. and Canada since its formation in 2008.

Johanne Perron, a faculty member at the University of Montreal, is an internationally successful cello artist. She has played with orchestras in Montreal, Mexico, and Lisbon, as well as having performed recitals in Canada, Brazil, Mexico, the U.S. and Europe. She has also performed as a soloist under the direction of many esteemed conductors from around the world.

Sheila Perron Jaffé began her violin music education learning from her parents while being raised in south Florida. Her music studies were continued under the instruction of many skilled musicians and institutions, which helped Perron Jaffé to become concertmaster of the Florida Youth Orchestra Junior Symphony at the age of 11. Perron Jaffé is presently a scholarship student at the University of Montreal where she is also concertmaster of the University's orchestra, and she holds first violinist title of the Alaya String Quartet.

Shelly Tramposh, a well-respected and very well-educated local talent, serves as the assistant professor of viola at Crane. She performs as the principal violist with the Orchestra of Northern New York and in the Potsdam Piano Quartet. Her educational background includes degrees from the Eastman School of Music, the University of Colorado at Boulder and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

The Perron Trio does not shy away from challenging musical selections. Each member's talent has enabled the trio to create beautiful performances that leave audiences in awe.
