Peyton Recognized as Outstanding Actor at Theatre Festival

ABILENE, TX (03/28/2014)(readMedia)-- A local student attending Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, was honored for acting at the annual Christian University Theatre Festival in Brownwood, Texas, March 4, 2014.

Greg Peyton is a junior Bachelor of Fine Arts major from San Marcos, Texas. Peyton was recognized as the Outstanding Acting for his role as Sigmund Freud in the play Freud's Last Session.

The play imagines a clash between two intellectual titans: Dr. Sigmund Freud, atheist and father of psychoanalysis, and C.S. Lewis, Christian and legendary apologist. On the eve of World War II, Freud and Lewis argue the existence of God, love, sex, good, evil, and the meaning of life.

Peyton has appeared in HSU productions including A Christmas Carol, Feast of Snacks, Rabbit Hole, Hello Dolly!, Texas Flyer, The Seafarer, and DirectFest 2013.

The Christian University Theatre Festival was created more than 20 years ago by theatre directors from Hardin-Simmons University, Howard Payne University, and Wayland Baptist University as a means for students to come together to network, share theatrical creations, and a love of theatre in a Christian setting.
