Planned Parenthood Federation of America's Medical Director to speak in Albany during Women's Health Week

ALBANY, NY (05/10/2010)(readMedia)-- Dr. Vanessa Cullins, medical director of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, will participate in a conference on enhancing access to women's health care for diverse communities in Albany on Wednesday. Dr. Cullins' visit is opportune as this week marks National Women's Health week, a weeklong effort coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health to encourage women to focus on their health and well-being.

Conference:

The Immigrant Women's Health Initiative of The Ed Fund of Family Planning Advocates of New York State will host Women's Health Matters: A Day of Cultural Competence Learning and Advocacy for Immigrant Women, African-American Women and All Women of Color and Health and Human Services Providers.

Partipants will share their health care experiences and perspectives to address challenges faced by minority populations in accessing basic and reproductive health care in New York State. They will learn self-advocacy skills to use in health care settings, as well as advocate for the reduction of health care disparities in meetings with state lawmakers.

The keynote address will be given by Dr. Vanessa Cullins, Vice President of Medical Affairs at Planned Parenthood Federation of America.
