Portland native wins college one-act play contest

WALLA WALLA, WA (02/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Michaela Gianotti of Portland recently won first place in the 2012 Whitman College one-act play contest. Her play, entitled The Guests, tells the story of three siblings and their different experiences with love. The festival ran from Wednesday, Feb. 8 to Sunday, Feb. 12.

The annual one-act play festival gives Whitman students the opportunity to see their original work on stage. Student playwrights submit their work in the fall, and faculty judges select three plays to be performed in the spring. All one-acts are written, acted in, and directed by Whitman students.

Gianotti, the daughter of Kathleen and Jerry Gianotti, is a 2008 graduate of Central Catholic High School. She is currently a senior English major at Whitman.
