SUNY Potsdam Interim President Dr. Dennis L. Hefner will offer the opening talk for the College’s Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series on Jan. 29 at noon.

POTSDAM, NY (01/23/2014)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam Interim President Dr. Dennis L. Hefner will offer the opening talk for this semester's Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series next week.

Dr. Hefner will present a talk entitled "Economics, Education and Learning: What Do They Have in Common?" on Wednesday, Jan. 29 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Rebecca V. Sheard Literacy Center, located in Satterlee Hall. The presentation will be held on the balcony of the literacy center.

This event is free, and the public is invited to attend.

The Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series is sponsored by SUNY Potsdam's School of Education and Professional Studies. Over the last six years, the School has hosted more than 50 presenters through the series.

All seminar series talks are held on Wednesdays at noon, in the literacy center balcony. The Spring 2014 Disciplined Inquiry in Education Seminar Series schedule is as follows:

  • Jan. 29: "Economics, Education and Learning: What Do They Have in Common?," presented by Dr. Hefner.
  • Feb. 12: "Struggling to Change: Developing Experiential Models of Leadership within Higher Education Communities," presented by Michele Pinard, Jeremy van Blommestein and study abroad students.
  • Feb. 26: "Critical Teaching Between the Lines: Peering into our Assumptions," presented by Sheryl D. Scales.
  • March 12: "What Teachers Should Know about Philosophy," presented by Ronald Bretsch.
  • April 16: "Teaching Scholarly Research Writing in Thailand: A Fulbright Experience," presented by Bill Herman.
