Price Chopper Announces It's Grand Opening in the City of Oswego

SCHENECTADY, NY (06/09/2009)(readMedia)-- At 8:30am, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 the Lavere-Harrington VFW Post 2320 raised the American Flag to the sounds of the National Anthem. The store located at 137 State Rt. 104 replaces the Price Chopper at 293 State Rt. 104, which opened October 2005. Price Chopper has had a presence in Oswego since it opened its first store in October 1976.The new store is 68,000 sq. ft. and provides many more services and offers to shoppers. The store manger is Larry Volan.

Neil Golub, President & CEO for Price Chopper, and Jerry Golub, EVP & COO were joined by other Price Chopper officials, Michael Wachs, Oswego Development, LLC, developer of the project, other city officials and shoppers to celebrate the grand opening of the store and official ribbon cutting. The store on Rt. 293 State Rt. 104 closed last night at 9pm.

The new store boasts an additional 20,000 sq. ft. of floor space allowing expanded and new departments. The store will have approximately 230 full and part-time associates. Associates from the former store location have been offered jobs at the new store or other Price Choppers in the area.

On the eve of the grand opening, Price Chopper hosted a fundraising party for three local nonprofits: Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL), Oswego Health, and the Oswego Minor Hockey Association Inc. Light fare was provided by Price Chopper and musical entertainment was by Dave Hawthorn, who also performed for the Grand Opening from 9-noon.
