Price Chopper Celebrates it's Shelburne Rd Store's Grand Reopening in the City of Burlington, VT

Flag Raising Ceremony Performed by VFW Post 782 Accompanied by the Rice HS Drum Line Performing the National Anthem

SCHENECTADY, NY (09/29/2009)(readMedia)-- At 8:30am, Sunday, September 27, 2009 the VFW Post 782 raised the American Flag to the musical sounds of the Rice High School Drum Line performing the National Anthem. The store located at 595 Shelburne Road, Burlington, VT. has completed it's second expansion since opening in 1990. In 1992 the store was remodeled. In June of 1999, it moved to the opposite end of the plaza and added additional space. With the latest expansion of 6,000 sq. ft. the store provides more services and offers to shoppers. The store manger is Tracey Hershenhorn. The store team consists of approximately 310 full and part-time associates which includes 35 new hires.

Neil Golub, President & CEO for Price Chopper, and Jerry Golub, EVP & COO were joined by other Price Chopper officials, Tony Pomerleau of Pomerleau Real Estate, developer of the project, Larry Kupferman, Director CEDO, other city officials and shoppers to celebrate the grand reopening of the 74,000 sq. ft. store and official ribbon cutting. The store closed last night at midnight.

Jerry Golub said, "Price Chopper is growing greener and here's how…during the years, this store has had many energy efficient measures implemented with the most recent being as follows:

-A free air system installed into the dairy cooler which allows cold winter outside air to be used to keep the dairy cooler cold during the winter season in lieu of using mechanical refrigeration.

-T8 lighting previously installed for efficiency purposes.

-Upgraded track lights

-Dairy cases replaced with new cases with glass doors , LED Lights, & variable speed fans. All of theses features on the dairy cases reduce the energy usage by approximately 50 percent for these cases.

-Variable speed fans on most new cases

-Led lights and variable speed drive motors on all new frozen food and medium temp cases.

-Melink variable speed drive on all exhaust hoods.

-The existing refrigeration system has the latest in electronic controls.

Our goal is to be a leader in the applications of new sustainable practices that will benefit all of us."

Neil Golub expressed his enthusiasm when referring to the store, "We are confident that consumers here will appreciate the superior quality and value of what Price Chopper has to offer. We are truly committed to continue to bring 'the best in fresh…and low prices' to the City of Burlington. Our guests will also continue to benefit from our Fuel AdvantEdge program."
