Price Chopper Continues to Expand Its Green Efforts
Inkjet Refill Program in More Stores, More convenience for its customers
SCHENECTADY, NY (10/17/2007)(readMedia)-- Price Chopper Supermarkets has continued to expand its inkjet refill program which is now available in twenty-six of its stores. The majority of these stores are located in New York with, four in Vermont, three in Connecticut, and two in Pennsylvania with in-store photo labs.
Refilling inkjets saves consumers about 50% or more on refill costs. It also protects the environment by freeing up landfill space and also conserves oil, which is used in cartridge production. Over 300 million cartridges are thrown away in the United States every year and 2.5 ounces of oil is used to make a cartridge.
In November of 2005, Price Chopper started working with “I Fill Inkjets” a business located in Glens Falls, NY. The company has saved over 30,000 cartridges from local landfills and saved local consumers about $300,000 over the past two years.
Price Chopper will offer inkjet refills for just $5 beginning this Sunday, October 21st through October 27th. All major brands of either black or colored cartridges are accepted. The process is completed within 24 hours.
“This is a service for our customers that not only saves them time, but saves them money. We are also helping to protect our environment through reuse and recycling,” said Barbara L. Page, Community and Public Relations Manager for Price Chopper.
