Price Chopper Opens New Store in South Burlington, VT

Price Chopper Supermarkets, a 'family in business', parented by The Golub Corporation since 1932, opened a 37,000 sq. ft. Super Center this morning in South Burlington, Vermont. The 24-hour store employs approximately 150 full and part-time associates. The store manager is Rafael Antillon.

The festivities began at 8:30am with a musical program performed by the Rice High School Green Knights Drum Line. Also in attendance was the Howard Plant VFW 782, and members of the U.S. Marine Corps Immediately following, Neil Golub, President & CEO of Price Chopper, was joined by Chuck Hafter, City Manager, Tony & Ernie Pomerleau of Pomerleau Real Estate and other civic and political leaders to officially cut the ribbon.

Neil Golub expressed his enthusiasm when referring to the new store, "We are confident that consumers here will appreciate the superior quality and value of what Price Chopper has to offer. We are truly committed to bringing 'the best in fresh...and low prices' to South Burlington."

City Manager, Chuck Hafter stated, "I am very happy about having Price Chopper as a new business and neighbor in South Burlington. It's progress in a positive way."

The location at 41 Hinesburg Road was a former Grand Union which opened in the 70's. Price Chopper has made major interior changes to the building.

On October 23rd price Chopper launched its "Fuel AdvantEdge" program in Northern Vermont. The new South Burlington store is now part of the program which offers consumers savings on gasoline. "Fuel AdvantEdge" is an ongoing, cumulative savings/reward program that gives consumers a 10¢/gallon discount on gasoline purchases for every $50 of groceries purchased (20¢/gallon on $100 purchased, 30¢/gallon on $150 purchased, etc.).

For the first week of the opening, Price Chopper is working with the U.S. Marine Corps. to support Toys for Tots. Shoppers can donate a new, unwrapped toy in the specially marked box. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program is to collect new toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.
