Price Chopper Supermarkets to Hold Gluten Free Food Festival II
Information and Food Samples to be Shared
SCHENECTADY, NY (01/03/2008)(readMedia)-- In recognition of the growing number of Americans whose digestive systems are sensitive to or intolerant of products containing gluten, a protein fraction found in wheat, rye barley, and the gluten of certain other grains, Price Chopper is holding a second installment of its popular Gluten-Free Food Festival from 6:00 -8:30PM on Tuesday, January 7 at the Century House in Latham, NY. Admission is free to the public. Reservations may be made by calling (518) 379-1617.
This event, like the initial Festival that entertained and informed a standing room only crowd of 300, has been promoted to celiac support groups and gastroenterologists as well as on in-store signage and through direct contact with customers who have reached out to Price Chopper through its Healthy U Connection hotline, website and Call Center with questions about celiac disease and gluten-free foods.
“We recognize that there are many challenges associated with managing celiac disease and have significantly increased our offering of gluten-free foods in many of our stores in an effort to improve the shopping experience for those with celiac disease”, said Maureen Murphy, Price Chopper’s Manager of Consumer Services and Trends. “As part of the festivities, we’re delighted to present not only our own Senior Corporate Nutritionist, Ellie Wilson (R.D., M.S.), but Elizabeth Barbone, author of Easy Gluten-Free Baking, who will offer valuable tips and recipes to all who attend,” she added
