NEW YORK, NY (07/08/2009)(readMedia)-- A weekly fresh produce market will open this week at Roberto Clemente State Park, announced Carol Ash, Commissioner of the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The new market will begin this Saturday, July 11, 2009 from 11 am to 3 pm and will continue every Saturday through the summer.
The fresh fruits and vegetables will be sold by students of the culinary arts program of the South Bronx Job Corps Academy in partnership with OPRHP. The program will give the culinary arts students hands-on experience with fresh fruits and vegetables.
Located at West Tremont and Mattewson Road, Roberto Clemente State Park is a 25-acre waterfront park located along the Harlem River in the Bronx, and includes a multi-purpose recreation building, an Olympic-size pool complex, ball fields, basketball courts, picnic areas, playgrounds and a waterfront promenade.
