Q.E.D Comedy Club Hosts Debate Watch Party f/t Ranked Choice Voting

In November NYC will vote on Ranked Choice Voting for citywide elections.

ASTORIA, QUEENS (09/11/2019) (readMedia)-- As 10 democratic candidates debate tomorrow to be America's top choice for President, Queens voters will rank their top 5 at a debate watch party at a Queens comedy club using Ranked Choice Voting. Ranked Choice Voting will be question 1 on the November ballot.

With Ranked Choice Voting, voters rank their top five candidates in order of preference, or vote for just one candidate like they always have. If all the first-choices are counted and no candidate collects a majority of the vote, that candidate wins. If there's no majority, then the last-place candidate is eliminated and their votes re-allocated according to voter preferences. The process is repeated until there's a majority winner.

Here's a helpful video explainer on how Ranked Choice Voting works.

Ranked Choice Voting would apply to all city offices for primary and special elections. Technically, it would not include the presidential primary because that is part of the federal system. This ballot is just a demo to allow voters to imagine how Ranked Choice Voting works.

Here is the ballot and instructions for voters to run their own simulations.
