Iowa Safe Schools hosts Governor's Conference

DES MOINES, IA (03/31/2014)(readMedia)-- Iowa Safe Schools is hosting its 9th annual Governor's Conference on LGBTQ youth with almost 1,000 registered to attend.

WHAT: Nearly 1,000 individuals are registered for the Iowa Safe Schools Governor's Conference including Iowa students, college students, professors, educators, counselors, administrators, policy makers, parents, faith leaders, youth-serving professionals, and those who just care about the well-being of LGBTQ youth. Featured speakers for the conference include Eliza Byard, Executive Director of the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network (GLSEN); Sam Killermann, comedian and social justice advocate, and the guy behind "It’s Pronounced Metrosexual"; Iowa native, Sharon Needles, reigning season four winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race and professor on RuPaul’s Drag U.
