ALBANY, NY (06/29/2012)(readMedia)-- Anthony DiAcetis, Jr., a volunteer and member of Community Resource Federal Credit Union's board of directors, was named a 2012 Outstanding Volunteer by the Credit Union Association of New York at their Annual Meeting and Convention held recently at The Sagamore Resort on Lake George.

Outstanding Volunteers are unpaid credit union directors, credit union committee members or supervisory committee members who exemplify commitment to their credit unions and/or the entire New York State credit union movement. Their work and dedication further the credit union "people helping people" philosophy. DiAcetis won the award in the $50-250 million in assets category.

"Volunteers like Tony are an essential part of what makes credit unions uniquely able to help members build a better financial future," said William J. Mellin, the Association's president/CEO.

DiAcetis, Jr. has truly dedicated his life to Community Resource FCU. After joining the credit union as a member in 1959, he began volunteering as assistant treasurer on the board of directors in 1972. Today, he serves as treasurer-a position he has held since 1978.

Every step of the way, DiAcetis has been an extremely active member of the credit union's board and various committees. In the early days, he could be found balancing the general ledger, paying bills, producing financial statements, managing investments and preparing the budget. Today, DiAcetis continues to play a very important role in analyzing and reviewing the monthly financial reports for the board and bringing valuable insights and experience to the table. He also serves on the credit union's Asset Liability Management Committee and the Building Committee.

Thanks in large part to DiAcetis' leadership; Community Resource FCU has grown from $2 million in assets with just under $66 million in assets with more than 6,200 members.

His dedication also extends to the community, where he has held several elected and appointed positions for the Albany County Legislature, the Village of Ravena and the Town of Coeymans, and is a very active member of his church and the Knights of Columbus.

"Tony has dedicated his life to Community Resource. As Treasurer, he provided valuable insight and direction, not only into the Credit Union's financials, but also into major decisions that have shaped the Credit Union into what it is today," said Elizabeth Kindlon, Community Resource's CEO. "More importantly, Tony is a model for the credit union philosophy. He has spent a lifetime volunteering - for Community Resource and for many other organizations - and he clearly understands the importance of giving back to the community," she added.

The Credit Union Association of New York has served as the trade association for the state's credit unions for 95 years. New York credit unions have assets of more than $57 billion and serve 4.6 million members. To learn more about the Association, visit www.cuany.org.
