DES MOINES, IA (02/26/2016)(readMedia)-- The Read Across America celebration sponsored by the Des Moines Education Association, the Iowa State Education Association, Everybody Wins! Merle Hay Mall and Smilemakers honors Dr. Seuss with a free book give away, costume contest, activities, prizes, free cookies and fun for kids and families.

Join Iowa Energy mascot, "Surge", Franklin Library mascot "Rosie" and the Iowa Youth Chorus for a special night.

WHO:

Educators care about Building A Nation of Readers. Celebrating famed author Dr. Seuss on his birthday, March 2,  with a birthday party for kids and families is a great way to spread the word that reading is fun!

WHAT:

National Read Across America Day is the National Education Association's annual reading motivational awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss.
