State of the Air Report Detailing NY's Air Quality Will Be Released April 25

WHAT: Press conference call on Tuesday, April 24, previewing the findings from the American Lung Association's State of the Air 2012 report, which will be released on April 25, 2012 at 5 a.m. ET. Please note the report is embargoed until that time. Now in its 13th year, State of the Air is the American Lung Association's annual report card on air quality, ranking cities and counties most affected by three types of pollution: ozone pollution, short-term particle pollution and annual particle pollution.

WHO: Press conference call speakers will include:

- Jeff Seyler, President and CEO, American Lung Association of the Northeast

- Luis Rodriguez, M.D., Chair, Department of Pediatrics, Pediatric Pulmonology at Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center and board member at the Lung Association

- Janice Nolen, Assistant Vice President, National Policy and Advocacy, American Lung Association, lead author of the report

- Michael Seilback, Vice President, Public Policy and Communications, American Lung Association of the Northeast

- Ed Miller, Senior Vice President, Health Promotion and Public Policy, American Lung Association of the Northeast

WHY: Millions of people throughout the Northeast live in regions with failing air quality. Air pollution is a serious health threat. It sends people to the hospital, shapes how kids' lungs develop and can even be deadly.

AGENDA: Speakers will introduce the report, discuss national trends, share top-level findings for New York and Connecticut, and discuss the health effects of ozone and particle pollution. Questions will be answered at the conclusion of the call.
