ROCHESTER, NY (03/17/2011)(readMedia)-- Roberts Wesleyan College is pleased to announce that senior Phillip Koyoumjian is the 2010 winter recipient of the President's Citation for Academic Achievement. This honor is given upon recommendation of the College's Awards and Honors Committee to the senior with the highest academic average who has attended Roberts Wesleyan College exclusively.
"Phillip has been one of our best History students in recent years and has excelled academically in every area," said Matthew Moore, History Professor at Roberts Wesleyan College. "He's bright, curious, engaging and knowledgeable – the epitome of the undergraduate History student."
Koyoumjian's love of history, learning and people are leading him to pursue a Master's degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. His seminar paper on the Eucharistic devotion of St. Francis of Assisi has been accepted for presentation at an undergraduate session at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in May 2011.
Koyoumjian began working at the B. Thomas Golisano Library in the fall of 2009 at the recommendation of Dr. Caton. After one semester as an interlibrary loan assistant, he was promoted to staff assistant in January 2010. While focusing on Interlibrary Loan processing and training new student workers in that area, Koyoumjian took on additional responsibilities filling in at the Circulation Desk, where he provided excellent customer service and assumed responsibilities for opening and closing the library. He also has served on the Library Development Committee for the past two years.
