Rome Man Arrested For Fraud In No-Fault Insurance Claim

NEW YORK, NY (04/13/2010)(readMedia)-- A Rome man was arrested Friday for fraudulently collecting $6,000 in no-fault lost wage benefits, the New York State Insurance Department reported.

State police arrested Daniel J. Weisenburger, 36, of Sleepy Hollow Road. The arrest followed an investigation by the Insurance Department's Frauds Bureau into a no-fault insurance claim Weisenburger submitted after a December 8 car accident.

Investigators found that Weisenburger gave false information to Nationwide Insurance Company stating that he was going to start a new job at a Rome tavern and that injuries he suffered in the accident prevented him from doing so.

Weisenburger was charged with insurance fraud and falsifying business records. He could be sentenced to seven years in prison if he is convicted. A hearing is expected to be scheduled in Oneida County Court.
