POTSDAM, NY (08/04/2011)(readMedia)-- Hilarity ensues in Rossini's comic opera "Le Comte Ory" when disguises lead to mistaken identity in a fierce love triangle.

Audiences are invited to join in the fun for the final presentation of the 2011 Summer Encores from The Met: Live in HD to grace North Country movie theaters this season. The comic opera will be presented at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8 in Potsdam's Roxy Theater.

The spring Metropolitan Opera performance features Juan Diego Flórez as Count Ory, Joyce DiDonato as the Isolier and Diana Damrau as the sought-after countess Adèle.

The opera will be performed in French, with English subtitles. The expected running time is two hours, 30 minutes.

Rossini's rarely-performed comic opera "Le Comte Ory" is the tale of a love-struck Count Ory disguising himself as a hermit and a nun to get closer to the beautiful lonesome countess Adèle. The Isolier, who disguises as the opposite sex, exposes Ory in his attempts to get closer to the countess.

The Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live performance transmissions to movie theaters around the world will return to Potsdam this summer through the third season of The Met: Live in HD Summer Encores. The 2011 Summer Encore season will celebrate the masters of Italian opera, with productions of works by Puccini, Verdi, Donizetti and Rossini.
