SUNY Delhi Announces Presidential Honors Scholars

DELHI, NY (09/20/2013)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi has announced that a total of 12 leading students have been named Presidential Scholars.

These select students are enrolled in the college's honors program, which is designed to recognize, reward and inspire the highest achieving students. Each student received a scholarship to cover the cost of full tuition to attend SUNY Delhi.

"SUNY Delhi's academic profile has increased significantly," said President Candace S. Vancko. "The Presidential Scholars Program is one way the college is recognizing the best and brightest among its students."

Attending SUNY Delhi as Presidential Scholars this fall are: Walter Bartlett, General Studies, Sidney Center; Ethan Ferguson, General Studies, Treadwell; Robert Gregory, Computer Information Systems, Oneonta; Courtney Hillman, Information Systems Auditing, Mount Upton; Lorraine Hollett, Veterinary Science Technology, North Baldwin; Clint Kinne, Science, Sidney Center; Kathleen Lennon, Culinary Arts, Sidney; Shelby McCann, Accounting, Delhi; Faith Mills, Undeclared, Livingston Manor; Abigail Wallace, General Studies, Roxbury; and Kayleigh Ward, Nursing – Dual Degree, Downsville.

To be eligible, students must rank within the top 15 percent of their graduating class, earn a Regents Diploma with a minimum average of 88 percent, and submit a 350 to 500 word essay highlighting their extracurricular activities and achievements. Presidential Scholars must maintain a G.P.A. of 3.3 while attending SUNY Delhi to continue their scholarship status.

SUNY Delhi's honors program is designed for students who seek a greater academic challenge given their ability and personal motivation. Qualified students are challenged through specially designed honors courses in the humanities and social sciences, as well as through courses in their major.
