DELHI, NY (10/26/2013)(readMedia)-- SUNY Delhi is offering a fully online baccalaureate degree program in Criminal Justice and is accepting applications now for Spring 2014. This is the first online Criminal Justice Bachelor of Science degree to be introduced within the State University of New York.

Students now have access to Delhi's comprehensive Criminal Justice program with the flexibility they need to earn a degree on their own time as their schedule permits. The program will provide a seamless transfer for students who have completed an associate degree in Criminal Justice or a related field. Delhi has established a strong reputation as a transfer friendly college with strong online programs.

"Delhi's Criminal Justice program has grown dramatically in recent years and has attracted faculty who are successful practitioners in the law enforcement and judicial fields," said SUNY Delhi Provost John Nader.

Faculty members include: Associate Professor Scott Swayze who has served in law enforcement for several years and practices law in Central New York; Patricia DeAngelis, assistant professor of Criminal Justice for SUNY Delhi and former Rensselaer County District Attorney; and Assistant Professor Paul Rogan who has extensive experience practicing law in numerous state and local courts.

Through both experiential learning and theory, Delhi's Criminal Justice Studies baccalaureate program provides students with the academic foundation needed to pursue a variety of options in their field. Students will complete coursework in the areas identified by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the field's most respected professional and certifying organization. These areas include administration of justice, corrections, criminology theory, law adjudication, law enforcement, and research and analytical methods.

Graduates will be prepared to enter directly into employment or graduate study in the areas of criminal justice, public safety, criminal investigation, private security, political science or law. Students may study full- or part-time and will have ready access to academic advisement, support services, and financial aid advisement.

SUNY Delhi also offers a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice on the Schenectady County Community College campus.

SUNY Delhi is a member of the State University of New York, the largest comprehensive university system in the U.S. Delhi's seamless approach to education includes over 60 academic programs, leading to one-year certificates, two-year associate's degrees and bachelor's degrees in select program areas.
