SUNY Potsdam Presents Jason Ladouceur with Chancellor's Award

POTSDAM, NY (06/01/2012)(readMedia)-- SUNY Potsdam is proud to recognize a College graduate and dedicated employee with the highest employee award offered within the State University of New York. Jason Ladouceur '94 is the recipient of the 2012 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

SUNY Potsdam President Dr. John F. Schwaller presented the award in a campus ceremony on May 10, as part of the College's annual Employee Recognition and Service Awards Ceremony.

The Chancellor's Awards for Excellence are System-level honors conferred to acknowledge and provide system-wide recognition for consistently superior professional achievement and to encourage the ongoing pursuit of excellence. These programs underscore SUNY's commitment to sustaining intellectual vibrancy, advancing the boundaries of knowledge, providing the highest quality of instruction and serving the public good. Through these awards, SUNY publicly proclaims its pride in the accomplishment and personal dedication of its instructional faculty, librarians and professional staff across its campuses.

"Jason Ladouceur has demonstrated extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Potsdam and is highly deserving of this distinction."

The academic leadership of the College was present to congratulate him as he received his award, including: Dr. Schwaller, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Margaret E. Madden, Crane School of Music Dean Dr. Michael Sitton, School of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Steven Marqusee and School of Education and Professional Studies Dean Dr. Peter Brouwer.

An 11-year dedicated employee of SUNY Potsdam, Jason Ladouceur currently works in College Advancement as the Director of Planned Giving. Ladouceur is an exceptional leader and fundraiser for the campus. He has developed an extraordinary body of work and in the past year alone, has secured approximately $3.5 million in planned gifts. His role is vital to the campus because the programs, scholarships and facilities that have been funded through these gifts are critical to the ongoing success of SUNY Potsdam.

In the past year, Ladouceur secured a gift to fund a Festival of the Arts, bringing visiting artists to Potsdam to work with students and faculty and bringing the campus alive with a culture of creativity. He is also in the process of securing a fund to support a program that will send freshmen students and faculty sponsors to New York City to deepen their understanding of culture and diversity. Ladouceur has secured a number of scholarships, including a recent gift for a student in The School of Arts and Sciences and a scholarship for a student from St. Lawrence County who demonstrates financial need. He also worked with two donors to bring distinguished guest conductors to The Crane School of Music, and send the Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra to performance locations outside of Potsdam. In addition, Ladouceur worked directly with the student body, which recently voted to create the first ever completely student-funded endowment at SUNY Potsdam, which will use funds from a Student Government Association fee to support the annual Springfest.

This is only a selected sampling of his outstanding accomplishments. His work as a whole is truly transforming student experiences at SUNY Potsdam. Ladouceur spearheaded an initiative to organize planned giving professionals within SUNY, in order to share experiences and to better serve their campus and SUNY as a whole. He is the co-chair of the SUNY Planned Giving Committee. Ladouceur is a generous, dedicated employee who holds himself to very high standards. He has an ability to communicate effectively and caringly with anyone. Ladouceur was also the recipient of the 2011 President's Award for Excellence Professional Service. In recognition of his service and dedication to SUNY Potsdam, The State University of New York presented Jason Ladouceur with the 2012 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service.
