COLCHESTER, VT (04/20/2012)(readMedia)-- Christopher Eldridge, a Saint Michael's College senior business major, was selected as the college's winner in the Commitment to Service an Engagement Award category presented by Vermont Campus Compact (VCC) at their 2012 Statewide Awards Ceremony on April 12 at the Capitol Conference Center in Montpelier, Vt.

This award is given to one student per VCC campus for the breadth and depth of his or her community involvement.

Christopher Eldridge, the son of Arthur and Marianne Eldridge of Dover, N.H., was cited for his exemplary record of service to the local Vermont community and to Saint Michael's College. He is a leader in the SMC Fire and Rescue department, having served as an active member of the fire unit since his first year at Saint Michael's.

Eldridge was cited for consistently serving on the "front lines," as well as for overhauling the Fire & Rescue website.

Chris Eldridge has also been a very active member of the SMC student government, serving as a class officer and as a member of the finance committee. And Chris has been an active volunteer with Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, a summer camp for children with cancer. A strong, highly respected leader, Chris has come to be known for his impressive ability to take action on all challenges before him.
