Salt Lake City native participates in national journalism conference

WALLA WALLA, WA (03/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Shelly Le of Salt Lake City, Utah was one of thirteen students who recently traveled to Seattle to represent The Pioneer, Whitman College's student newspaper, at the Associate Collegiate Press conference.

The Pioneer won two awards from ACP: third place for a four-year school weekly print publication and second place for a small school publication website.

The conference has attendees from colleges and universities across the country. Conference-goers take part in workshops on print journalism, web journalism, publishing magazines and radio broadcasting. Participants also receive feedback and awards for their school publications.

Le, the daughter of Huong Hong and Buu Le, is a 2010 graduate of Cottonwood High School. She is currently a sophomore politics and sociology major at Whitman and one of the news editors for The Pioneer.
