Sammy Nassri receives award during Honors Convocation at Wofford College

SPARTANBURG, SC (05/19/2010)(readMedia)-- Wofford senior Sammy Nassri received the Chinese departmental award during Honors Convocation on May 11.

Nassri is the first Wofford student who will graduate with both a Chinese and biology major. He studied abroad in Beijing in 2009. Nassri won first prize in the 2010 Chinese Language Contest of South Carolina and became the Palmetto Chinese Star. After graduation, Nassri plans to attend the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. Parents: Dr. Mohammed and Mona Nassri (Orangeburg, S.C., 29118).

The academic major awards are made by the faculty to seniors recommended by the major departments on the basis of academic achievement, character and intellectual promise. Some of the awards are named in honor of persons who have made significant contributions to the intellectual life of the college.
