CAZENOVIA, NY (03/22/2012)(readMedia)-- The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall will host the annual Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibitions from March 13 through May 1. The exhibition will include work by visual communications, studio art, photography and interior design degree candidates from Cazenovia College's Division of Art and Design.
Sara Yokubait-Vandervoort, a native of Altamont, N.Y., is a senior majoring in studio art, with a minor art history. She will exhibit her work from April 12 to 15, with a reception at 6 p.m., on April 12.
Yokubait-Vandervoort lives in Guilderland N.Y., and is a 2008 graduate of Guilderland High School. She is passionate about design and working in the theatrical world.
In her artist's statement, she writes, "The work I create deals with the façade of design. I think about themes and scenarios then use the plot I've imagined to create a physical backdrop where the story could evolve. Creating sets for stories either I or other story writers come up with allows me to physically bring an audience into a story, so they become fully involved in a theatrical production. Current work I have created allows me to better explore the potential personalities of characters and how they might act in different scenarios when placed in an environment I have created for them."
The Cazenovia College Art Gallery in Reisman Hall, 6 Sullivan St., is on the corner of Sullivan and Seminary streets in Cazenovia. Hours during the academic year are: Monday through Thursday, 1-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Friday, 1-4 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 2-6 p.m. Summer hours vary.
