SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (07/24/2007)(readMedia)-- By popular demand, the Saratoga Polo Association has added five new matches to the 2007 season schedule.
“Many fans have asked that we schedule matches on Thursdays during the Saratoga thoroughbred racing season,” said Jim Rossi, Managing Partner at Saratoga Polo. “And, starting on Aug. 2, polo will be played every Thursday during August to fulfill their request for more matches during the season.”
Polo will continue to be played as well every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday through Sept. 2, weather and field conditions permitting. Gates open at 4 p.m. and matches start at 5:30 p.m. on the Saratoga Polo grounds, corner of Bloomfield and Denton Roads. VIP Clubhouse admission is $20 per person and patrons dress as they might for a day at the racetrack. During the games, an unlimited chef’s selection of Tapas and mingle fare is available in the VIP area from 5:30 to 7 p.m. In the VIP tent, post-game dinners are served from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday during track season. Reservations are encouraged by calling 518-584-8108. General admission for matches is $20 per carload or $10 per person and tailgate picnics are welcomed. For those arriving by foot or bicycle, admission is $5 per person.
Patrons are admitted to Saratoga Polo matches via passes. Individual passes are for sale at the gate beginning at 4 p.m. on the day of the match or may be purchased in advance at www.saratogapolo.com or by calling the polo office at 518-584-8108. In addition to world-class polo, the Saratoga Polo Association hosts some very special events. The next event is the Annual Tailgate Competition on July 29 during play for the Lexus Cup. This year’s theme is “Summer at the Cape.” .Prizes will be awarded in several categories. Tailgate set up begins when gates open at 4 p.m. Judging takes place during halftime with prizes given after the trophy presentation.
