WALLA WALLA, WA (03/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Julia Stone of Seattle recently presented her research at a press conference at Whitman College on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Stone was one of fifteen students participating in a research course at Whitman College called "The State of the State for Washington Latinos." Students in this course conducted academic and community-based research in one of five different areas related to the relationship between Walla Walla Latinos and their surrounding community.

Her project, entitled "Community Needs and Service Access in Public Schools," looked into the ways in which neighborhood organizations in Walla Walla met and failed to meet the needs of the low-income population within the city.

Stone, the daughter of Deb and Eric Stone, is a 2010 graduate of Roosevelt High School. She is currently a sophomore politics major at Whitman.
