Second Quarter 2012 Tech Valley Index Rises With Another National Quarterly Record

ALBANY, NY (07/17/2012)(readMedia)-- Hoffman Warnick LLC (HW), an intellectual property law firm based in Albany, NY and with offices in Rochester and Boston, has released the 2012 First Quarter Tech Valley Patent Indices. The "Tech Valley Patent Indices" includes data for the Capital Region (Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties), Tech Valley, Tech Valley without IBM and GE, and the Capital Region without GE.

The Tech Valley Patent Index was high again in the second quarter, tracking along with the record quarterly high for the National number of issued patents. "The USPTO is really cranking out their backlog of patent applications, so it is great to see the Capital Region numbers rise with it," stated Spencer Warnick, partner at Hoffman Warnick.

The "Patent of the Quarter" is chosen to illustrate firsthand the creativity of Tech Valley inventors. The 2012 Second Quarter POQ is: US Patent No. 8,202,021, issued to Albert Gorman, Paul Gorman, Douglas Jones and John Dearborn for "Pavement Rehabilitation Using Cold In-Place Asphalt Pavement Recycling." The patent issued, June 19, 2012 and is assigned to Gorman Bros. Inc. in Albany. Gorman Bros. is a client of Hoffman Warnick.
